A birthday on a boat has one practical advantage over a house or a venue: the logistics disappear. There is nothing to set up beforehand and nothing to clean afterwards, and nobody has to drive to three different places.
In exchange, some decisions have to be made in advance and cannot be changed on the day. That is what this covers.
Cost by group size
The price is for the whole vessel, for the standard 5-hour trip:
- Up to 8 guests: R$ 1,800 on the 29 ft Speedboat, R$ 225 per person
- Up to 10: R$ 2,500 on the 30.5 ft Speedboat, R$ 250 per person
- Up to 25: R$ 6,500 on the Ibiza 45, R$ 260 per person
- Up to 40: R$ 8,750 on the Barco Gourmet 53, R$ 219 per person
Cost per guest falls as the group grows, which is the opposite of what most people expect while drawing up the list. Cutting guests to save money usually saves nothing, because the price is for the boat.

Fix the size before the guest list
Capacity is the legal limit, not the comfortable number. A 25-seat boat with 25 adults, a cooler and a cake is tight. Take 15% to 20% off the capacity and you land on the number that works for a five-hour party.
And every child takes a slot, infants included, which is the detail that most often catches out anyone organising a family birthday who only counted the adults.
Decoration: what works and what does not
- Balloons and banners: yes, and they carry the photos.
- Glitter and confetti: no. It sticks to the deck, ends up in the water and does not come off. This is the restriction people forget most.
- Candles and open flame: agree it beforehand. A cake with candles on a moving boat has a right time and place.
Bring tape. Wind in open water takes down anything lightly fixed.
Cake, food and drink
You bring whatever you want. There is no corkage and no minimum spend, and coolers with ice are already included. A whipped-cream cake suffers in the heat, so a firmer sponge holds up better across five hours of sun.
Glassware is what breaks most often aboard. Worth swapping for sturdy disposables or aluminium.

Route and time of day
The standard trip covers Urca and Guanabara Bay, with a swim stop. Two scheduling choices change the feel of the party quite a bit:
- Morning, leaving at 09:00: flatter water and gentler sun. Better with children in the group.
- Afternoon, finishing at the end of the day: catches the sunset, which is what most people want for the photo.
How to book
Confirm the date over WhatsApp, with a 50% deposit to hold it. Birthdays tend to have a fixed date with no room to reschedule, so this is the kind of booking that does not reward leaving it to the last week.
If the group size is still uncertain, the full table is in how much a boat rental in Rio costs, and what to bring on the trip covers the rest of the list.
