Every Jet Life boat is private: the rate you book is for the whole vessel, not a seat on it. The real question is not "private or not," since there is no shared option here. It is whether booking the whole vessel is worth it compared to finding a shared tour with another operator.

What changes between the two models

Private boat

• Shared with other groups you did not choose
• Fixed route and schedule, no room to adjust

When private pays off more

The tipping point is group size. On a private boat the price is fixed per vessel, so the more people, the lower the cost per head:

• Up to 8 people: R$ 1,800 on the 29 ft Speedboat, R$ 225 per person
• Up to 25 people: R$ 6,500 on the Ibiza 45, R$ 260 per person
• Up to 40 people: R$ 8,750 on the Barco Gourmet 53, R$ 219 per person

A shared tour usually charges per person regardless of group size, which adds up faster for a large group. For a couple or a pair, private costs more per head, since a fixed price cannot be split among many people.

When it is worth it most

• Groups of 4 and up. This is where the per-person cost of a private boat starts to genuinely compete with a shared one.
• A special occasion. Birthdays, bachelorette parties and other celebrations call for privacy a shared tour cannot give.
• Wanting to decide the route. Stopping longer at a beach, skipping another, adjusting the schedule: only possible when the boat is entirely yours.
• Bringing your own drinks. No corkage, saving enough to offset a good part of the price difference.

When it might not be

Alone, or as a pair, on a tight budget, the per-person cost of a whole boat runs high next to a shared tour. In that case, worth considering the jet ski, which has a cheaper entry point for one or two people.
